If you want to create a border full of hot and dramatic colour then don’t forget to add these Hemerocallis or Daylilies. Keep to a palette of hot colours and you will create a planting area that is sultry, sumptuous and exhilarating to look at.
Daylilies look best planted in drifts in a sunny border and work well with Montbretias. While their individual flowers only last a couple of days the plants flower freely from June to July. I also love their bright green strappy leaves which soon form large clumps.
They now come in a wealth of colours from salmon pink “Pink Damask”, to blood red “American Revolution” to the more traditional deep yellow variety “Golden Chimes”.
