Shade Loving Plants – Geranium Phaeum

Geranium Phaeum

Many people get despondent with their gardens especially if it’s shady and find it difficult to buy the right plants.

I love to use rich colours in my borders and these Geranium Phaeum with their purple black flowers are perfect for shade. Tolerant of any soil they work really well planted under deciduous trees or shrubs where the soil becomes dry.

Geraniums make easy plants for your border fronts and will provide you with a mass of flowers. Because of their deep colours I think this variety is a really useful addition. It works well in a traditional woodland garden but also looks amazing in a contemporary setting planted next to lime green such as Alchemilla mollis.
