A garden design with a modern, clean contemporary feel was the brief given to me for this new build garden in Fairfield Park.
The garden already had a small existing patio but the owners wanted a large decked area to site lounge furniture for socialising and entertaining. The design used angled lines and architectural plants to give a modern feel but one that would work practically for a young family.
Emphasis was given to bamboos and evergreen grasses, planting that would keep it’s structure throughout the year but also hide the shed from the house.
The colour palette for the plants was kept to a minimum, with splashes of dark purple and orange to give the garden some richness. My favourite plants used were the large strappy Crocosmia ‘Lucifer’ and the two new Silver Birch trees (Betula utilis jacquemontii) at the bottom of the garden to screen the garage.
